Thura Aung

I am an undergraduate student in Software Engineering (Artificial Intelligence Track) at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand.

My research spans Burmese NLP at NECTEC, Southeast Asian LLMs with AISG and VISTEC, and speech systems at Looloo Tech, most recently as a summer 2026 research intern at WING@NUS Lab, National University of Singapore, focusing on Low-resource NLP. My work centers on building and evaluating models in data-scarce settings, with an emphasis on improving generalization and robustness.

I’m fortunate to be advised by Dr. Ye Kyaw Thu at NECTEC, Dr. Peerat Limkonchotiwat during my AISG internship, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Min-Yen Kan and Tongyao Zhu during my summer visit to WING@NUS. I was also supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Titipat Achakulvisut and Dr. Zaw Htet Aung (Mahidol University) during my work at Looloo Technology. At KMITL, I am supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthapong Jungteerapanich for FYP project.

  • [17th Aug 2026] Our paper myMediWhisper got accepted to ICNLSP 2026 at Italy!
  • [27th July 2026] I came back to KMITL from summer visit to WING@NUS and KMITL awarded me for “Study Abroad” scholarship
  • [April 2026] I will be visiting WING@NUS Lab, National University of Singapore, this summer (May–July) as a research intern under Tongyao Zhu (PhD candidate) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Min-Yen Kan.
  • Our paper SEA-BED has been accepted to the ACL 2026 Main Conference.
  • Our paper Burmese-SAN has been accepted for an oral presentation at LREC 2026.
